Prosper goes quiet…$50 referral bonus still available!
Prosper.com has suspended new lender registration. So I guess the $25 referral bonus is on hold for now. But the good news is they are still accepting borrowers, so there is still $50 to be made. Prosper has started a process to register, with the appropriate securities authorities, promissory notes that may be offered and sold to lenders through our site in the future.The registration filing is a necessary step toward making the secondary lending market available to the community. This is something many of you have been asking for, and we believe the liquidity of a secondary market will make Prosper even more vibrant.
LendingClub went through this process earlier and funded new loans in their “quiet period” with their own money. After the registration, they now offer their lenders the opportunity to buy/sell loans through a trading platform provided by FOLIOfn. 1% is deducted from the proceeds of the sale of a note.This would mean lenders would no longer be stuck holding loans for three years as is currently the case at Prosper.com. This should make lending through Prosper more attractive to the lender, that is if there is a readily available maket for these loans. ¢
